Police says its operatives have rescued 5 Kidnaped victim’s in Adogo Forest in Central Part of Kogi state, Noth Central Nigeria.

A statement by the Police Public Relation Officer Kogi State Police command, SP William Ovye Aya, says that, “The Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force attached to Adogo Division led by SP Yusuf Hantsi, in collaboration with the Local Vigilantes on Thursday, rescued five kidnapped victims, who were earlier kidnapped at Aresuare Area of Ajaokuta Local Government”.

The PPRO stated, “the victims were kidnapped on 17/5/2024 while on transit along Ajaokuta-Adogo road.”

SP William Ovye Aya in the statement, added that the Operatives while on rescue mission, invaded the kidnappers camp and engaged the team in a gun duel. “But due to the superior firepower of the team, the hoodlums abandoned their victims and fled and all the victims were rescued unhurt”.

The Police Spokesperson further said in “another development, following a tip off that some armed hoodlums drove in an unregistered Golden colour Muzzle Camry went to Ojode area, Ankpa, Kogi East, North, Central, Nigeria, shooting sporadically, in the process one Iliyasu Abubakar was shot dead while one other sustained bullet wound on his right chest.

“Immediately, the Divisional Police Officer of Ankpa Division, CSP Chikamnele Amaralam, swung into action mobilized his team to the scene engaged the hoodlums, which forced them to fled and abandoned one AK 47 Rifle with breech NO. 354951 and two live Ammunition”.

Meanwhile, Police Commissioner in Kogi state, Mr Onuoha Bethrand, has assured people of Kogi state of “unwavering commitment in ensuring adequate Security of life and property in Kogi State”.
