The Edo State Government, under the leadership of Governor Monday Okpebholo, has introduced free bus services across the state’s three Senatorial districts through the Edo City Transport Service (ECTS).

The initiative, announced on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, is part of Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to improving the welfare of Edo citizens under his policy framework titled “A New Edo Has Risen.”

The free bus services will operate within Benin City and extend to key locations in Edo Central and Edo North, including Ekpoma, Irrua, Uromi, Agbede, Auchi, and Okpella.

The government aims to alleviate the transportation challenges faced by residents and reduce the financial strain of commuting within and between these regions.

Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Fred Itua in a statement emphasized that the initiative is designed to ease the transportation stress on residents and enhance their quality of life.
The program reflects the administration’s broader commitment to public welfare and infrastructure development.

This move comes amid efforts to ensure that essential public services are accessible and affordable for all Edo residents, signaling a new direction for transportation policy in the state.
