The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) has elevated its National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, to the prestigious rank of Assistant Comptroller of Customs.

This promotion comes as part of a historic exercise that saw over 4,000 senior officers ascend the ranks, reinforcing the Service’s commitment to recognising talent and excellence.

This was disclosed during the 61st regular meeting of the NCS Board, Chaired by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun.

The promotions included one Deputy Comptroller General (DCG) and eight Assistant Comptrollers General (ACGs).

For Maiwada, this milestone is a testament to years of dedication, innovation, and extraordinary service.

Abdullahi Maiwada holds degrees in Environmental Sciences from Bayero University, Kano, and Communication degrees from Crescent University, Abeokuta.

His academic achievements culminated in a PhD in Media Arts from the University of Abuja, making him a shining star in the world of Public Relations and Communications.

Maiwada operates with precision and a Multilingual Visionary officer, Fluent in English, Hausa, and Arabic. His exceptional contributions earned him the prestigious World Customs Organisation (WCO) Meritorious Award in January 2020—a fitting accolade for a man, who has consistently set the gold standard in Customs operations.

His commitment to fostering sustainable development and environmental consciousness is evident in his work as a community relations manager. His reputation for excellence and innovation has positioned him as a beacon of hope and progress within the NCS.

As the Nigerian Customs Service marches toward a future defined by professionalism and excellence, the promotion of individuals like Abdullahi Maiwada underscores its determination to build a robust and dynamic workforce. With his unparalleled experience and vision, Maiwada is undoubtedly poised to leave an indelible mark on the Service and beyond.

In a congratulatory message, the executive and members of the Crime Reporters Global Association, Abuja, commended the NCS board and the Minister of Finance, Mr Wale Edun, for approving the promotion.
The message jointly signed by the Chairman, Tita Nze and the Secretary, Barth Ikiebe, urged the NCS Spokesman to continue to function and execute the mandate of his office for a better Society.
