The United States of America has cautioned in very strong terms, the former APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Aliu Oshiomhole and the APC Edo state governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, against any act of violence in the Saturday, September 19th, Governorship election in the state, due to the level of their unguarded, provocative utterances.
United States, which vowed in a very strong warning, to deal with trouble makers in Saturday’s Governorship election, also made good their earlier promise, by imposing visa restrictions on those who instigated the violence that marred the last governorship elections in Bayelsa and Kogi States respectively.
U.S Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, also vowed to authorize the ban on those that are threatening thunder and lightening on election day in Edo State, stressing that they will definitely reap the consequences of their actions.
“Politicians who are threatening fire and brimstone should be ready to reap the consequences of their decision and actions” Mr. Pompeo said.
The US further warned Comrade Oshiomhole not to abridge the constitutionally provided two terms for elected state governors, saying that frequent efforts to truncate the mandatory two terms of government have lead to inconsistencies in policy implementation and this has made Africa backward.
Nigeria and indeed Africa must therefore put away the mundane practice of premature democracy, by giving elected officers a chance to complete their two terms in office, in order to fulfill their campaign promises to the people, they said.
