Ahead of the much talked about Local Government Election in Edo State, political parties have held primaries to elect their candidates for the poll in September.
It was a carnival like celebration in Etsako Central LG as Hon Solomon Obomighie emerged unopposed as the candidate for the People’s Democratic Party Chairmanship flag bearer.
According to Obomighie, the victory is dedicated to Ikoko Emmanuel and Patrick Ikhane for the unity role they played towards his emergence as the candidate.
In the words of the umpire, “We are thrilled to announce that Hon. Solomon Obomighie has been elected as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chairmanship candidate for Etsako Central Local Government Election”.
His election no doubt has been met with tremendous support and celebration from the members of PDP and the entire community, cutting across political party lines.
The mammoth crowd that greeted him outside the venue, then embarked on a road show with Obomighie, which was climaxed with a reception at his residence where there were a lot to eat and drink.
Most of the party faithfuls and loyalists described Hon. Solomon Obomighie as a dedicated public servant who has demonstrated a deep commitment to serving humanity.
“He has been a tireless advocate for the people of Etsako Central LGA, working to improve the lives of our citizens and promote economic growth in the area”
According to them, “His leadership and vision will be valuable in guiding our local government to greater heights”.
The party loyalists and supporters called on members of the communities in Etsako Central LG to rally behind Obomighie and support his aspiration to become the Chairman.
“With his experience, dedication, and passion for our community, we are confident that he will perform as an outstanding Chairman who will lead our local government to new heights of prosperity and progress.
Congratulatory messages have been pouring in since the formal declaration of Obomighie as the PDP chairmanship candidate of Etsako Central LGA.
Our Correspondent reports that the contest for the Chairmanship and Councilors seats in Edo North is a straight fight between the ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP, and Opposition All Peoples Congress, APC.
The Edo State government has scheduled the Local government election to hold in September this year after several postponements.
