There was an altercation between occupants of the market and some individuals who allegedly brought the DSS operatives to settle an undisclosed dispute.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the FCT Command, Josephine Adeh, who confirmed the development to our correspondent, said operatives of the command attached to the Garki Divisional Police sStation were swiftly deployed to the area.

According to the PPRO, the “police intervened to rescue the individuals and protect public safety”.

It was learnt that during the incident, a section of the police outpost was damaged as some of the irate youths acted in a disorderly manner.

The FCT spokesperson noted that some weapons used in the “commotion were been recovered, and normalcy has now been restored”.

Similarly, a statement issued on Thursday night by the spokesman of the DSS, Peter Afunanya said the service has launched an investigation into the incident.

The statement assured Nigerians that upon completion of the investigation, proper disciplinary measures would be taken against the operatives if found culpable.

“Consequently, the Service has commenced an investigation into the matter. The public is assured that details of the inquiries will be communicated as soon as possible.

“The Service assures that it will not hesitate to mete out proper disciplinary measure(s) to its staff if found culpable or running foul of Standard Operating Procedures on dealing with a member of the public”, the statement added.
