A Broadcast Journalist/Editor, Nten Ekpang, with Trust TV has been
Kidnapped along with some passengers on Wednesday, 1/11/2023 in Kogi State.
Ekpang was on his way to Abuja, after taking his family for a holiday in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Close Family Contact, Kevin Chianan, who confirmed this to newsmen in Abuja on Thursday, said the kidnappers have made contact with the family and are demanding ten million naira Ransome.
“Kelvin stated moments ago,
“My name is kelvin and a friend to Nten Ekpang, who happens to travel on Sunday to Akwa-Ibom State to drop his family with the mother inlaw, meanwhile, I called him yesterday, Wednesday, in the morning and he told me he was in the park to which he was about to leave Uyo to Abuja”.
“I called him back at about 6pm to find out wether he has gotten to Abuja but I couldn’t get in touch with him, his number was switched off. At about 9pm, I was called that he was kidnapped.
The kidnappers later called the wife today, Thursday and demanded N10 million Ransome.
Journalists in Abuja have appealed to the captors to set him free unhurt, while calling on the Security Agencies in Kogi State to ensure a safe rescue of the Broadcast Journalist.
Our Correspondent reports that the driver of the bus was set free along with three other passengers by the kidnappers. The driver then reported the incident to the Army checkpoint close to the scene. Efforts are on by the Security Agents to help in the rescue effort. It happened at a village before Lokoja, Kogi State.
