The Edo State government is to partner with a Non Governmental Organisation, Compassion For Women and Youth Initiative, CFWYI, on training Youths with varied digital skills.
The Commissioner For Digital Economy, Science and Technology, Mr Ogbiede Ifaluyi, disclosed this when members of the Compassion for Women and Youth Initiative led by Princess Augusta Oghogho Aguinede paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Benin.
“I was overtly elated as these distinguished ladies rolled out their achievements through their various interventions for women and youths all across Edo State. For a moment, I wished I was a woman and could become a member of CFWYI to join them in driving their goals and vision but as a man, I can do just as much”.
Mr Ifaluyi noted, “These women are change agents and they are spending their time and resources to help build our society where women and youths become fellow diners at the dinner table of civilization alongside men”.
“I strongly feel that the future is female and I hold the view that our women be given just as much chances as men so as to live to their full potentials, increase their productivity and contribute to the progress of our society. Women and girls shouldn’t just be heard but have their voices amplified by men”.
According to him, ‘the Ministry of Digital Economy, Science and Technology will be partnering with CFWYI to train 900 Edo Youths( 50 per LGA) in varied Digital skills next year and I’m excited about the resultant effect of this on our economy and society”.
He urged Princess Augusta to keep up the great work as the people are proud of her.
In her response, Princess Augusta thanked the Commissioner For the warm reception and expressed the hope that the youth empowerment would be carried out in all the local Government Areas in the State.
