A Non Governmental Organisation under aegis of The Akume Empowerment Foundation, has rolled out strategies to empower the less privileged and vulnerable members of society in Nigeria.

The National President of the Foundation, Mr Mathias Tersoo Gbakaan, gave this assurance at the inauguration of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Area Council Executives of the Akume Empowerment Foundation (AEF), in Abuja over the weekend.

According to Mr Mathias Tersoo Gbakaan, “the Foundation is a charitable and non-profit non-governmental organization, committed towards advancing the welfare and wellbeing of the vulnerable members of society including the youths, the widows, the aged, the indigent and people living with disabilities”.

The FCT and Area Council executives were duly sworn in, including Comrade Ikurior Simon Peter, FCT Coordinator;
Asongu Terhide,
Director, Finance;
Polycarp Tsava,
Organising Secretary;
Amb Barth lkiebe,
Director, Media & Publicity;
Camillius Nyiakula, AMAC Area Council Coordinator;
Danladi Shadrack, Bwari and others yet to perform their oath of office.

The
National President, Mathias Tersoo Gbakaan, charged the excos to conduct themselves in accordance with the constitution of the AEF and in line with internationally recognized best practices. As he puts it: ‘The Akume Empowerment Foundation is all about transparency, accountability, due process and the rule of law. So we want the newly inaugurated committee, the FCT exco and all other officials to conduct themselves accordingly, they should go to the rural areas of the FCT, identify the challenges affecting the people, bring them out and forward them to the foundation and let us know how we can tackle them and solve them accordingly.

“We are here to tackle poverty and support the government to alleviate the problem so that the vulnerable people will benefit from the foundation, that is our mission”, He assured.

ln an interactive chat with newsmen afterwards, Mr Mathias Gbakaan also expantiated the aims and objectives of the foundation: “The Akume Empowerment Foundation (AEF) was formed in 2022 to help the vulnerable people in order to bridge the wide gap between the rich and the poor in our society. The government can try on its own, but it cannot do it alone, it cannot reach everybody. So the AEF has come to help the government to reach the downtrodden people, the vulnerable Nigerians, who don’t have anything but depend on government and charitable organizations like us, to survive. That is why there is a need for us to come together and put aside sentiments in order to help the vulnerable ones in our communities. That is why the AEF structure has come down to the ward level; you must know the problem of your community and that problem must be channelled to the local government Coordinator, to the State Coordinator, to the National Coordinator and then appropriate action must be taken to resolve the problem”, the National President added.

The FCT and Area Council executives were duly sworn in by Barrister Douglas Najime. Some of the officials are as follows; Comrade Ikurior Simon Peter, FCT Coordinator;
Asongu Terhide,
Director, Finance;
Polycarp Tsava,
Organising Secretary;
Amb Barth lkiebe,

Danladi Shadrack, Bwari and others yet to take their oath of office.
