Nigeria Association of Women Journalists Elects New President & Other Executive Members

Aisha Ibrahim Bura, New President

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, has elected a new Executive to man its affairs for the next three years.

Aisha Ibrahim Bura Wins the position of the National President to defeat the incumbent, Ladi Bala alongside every candidates in her line up.

The Chairman, NAWOJ 2023 electoral Committee, who declared her winner on Sunday, November 26, said the margin was a clear picture that NAWOJians desired a change of administration at the National.

Other candidates elected were Lilian Ogabu Okonkwo, who won Deputy National President, Waslia Ladan got National Secretary and the Assistant Secretary office was won by Aisha Cole.

Others are Fatima Rasheed, National Treasurer and Jemila Chinwe Abubakar, National Auditor.

Ifeoma Aka of the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, emerged unopposed as the Financial Secretary while Amaka Agbo of Ministry of Information, Enugu State was also elected unopposed as Vice President, South East (Zone C).

The election process which took place at Mariam Babangida Women Development Center, Central Area Abuja, was monitored by some members of the National Executive of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) including the National President Chief Chris Isiguzo.

Our correspondent reports that the delegate conference that produced the new Executive attracted NAWOJ delegates from the 36 states in Nigeria including the Federal Capital Territory.
